Ethical Responsibilities to Children
P-1.2 We shall care for and educate children in positive, emotional and social environments that are cognitively stimulating and that support each child's culture, language, ethnicity and family structure.
Working with children is our first priority. The ultimate goal is to provide children with a safe and nurturing learning environment. We must provide activities that will help children learn and grow socially, emotionally, and cognitively. We must make sure all children are treated fairly without being discriminated because of who they are.
Ethical Responsibilities to families
1.-2.2
To develop relationships of mutual trust and create partnership with the families we serve.
We must acknowledge that each family is unique, and establishing a partnership is vital in the Early Childhood Profession. Creating a partnership will make learning much easier for young children with the support of their family. We must let our families know they can trust Early Childhood Professionals to teach and care for their children.
Ethical Responsibilities to Employers
1.3B.1
To assist the program in providing the highest quality of services.
We must uphold the integrity of the Early Childhood Profession. We must support and adhere to guidelines and policies, and speak positive about our profession.
Great Point about establishing a partnership being vital. I think when parents know that they can trust us and that we only want the best for their child, everyone benefits.
ReplyDeleteI think alot of times staff forget how they are to respect their employer. I like the responsibilities to employers code.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking positive about our profession is the a priority of it all. How can we get families and others to understand that what we do is a profession, if we allow ourselves to talk or even think negatively about what we do as an early childhood educator? I extremely agree with your statement that we MUST speak positively about our profession!
ReplyDeleteI agree we need to speak positively about our profession! Many families I encounter, sometimes only see me as a "babysitter". We need to advocate for ourselves and our co-workers and continue to shed a positive light on the profession!
ReplyDeleteDiane I am in agreement with you regarding families each is unique and it is our jobs to establish a good working relationship with them. It is key to the success of each child. I have found that the parents that are involved in my program their children are making amazing progress. After reading an article recent about parent involvement I have been working very hard to involve all 8 families in my program.
ReplyDeleteDiane,
ReplyDeleteIt is imperative that children are in a stimulating environment. Children all learn in different ways and so as a result of this it is imperative that we appeal to all types of intelligences, thus ensuring that all children are learning.
Diane-
ReplyDeletegreat post-it just made me think. Needing to respectful of families and their cultures...If we keep in mind the uniqueness of each individual child as well as family and think about how much we can learn from them and how could that uniquness be an asset to your classroom? and then the parent is now feeling respected and next they will want to share with you and look at the wonderful relationship that can be built. Everything is so connected!!
I can see how committed you are by your writings.
